KNOX app separation - another update

· Remy

App separation changed a bit in Android 14.

  • The ‘Separated Apps’ folder has an changed icon. On Android 13 the folder was implemented as a transparant folder but on Android 14 the folder has its own icon. I am not really a fan of this default icon as I find it hard to locate. It looks bland and is very similar to the E-FOTA app icon. Luckily the end user can personalize the appearance of the folder icon.

  • The Camera, Contacts, My Files and Gallery and Chrome apps all have a visible icon now. This preempts a lot of questions by end users.

  • Each app part of separated apps has a “separated apps” badge. This makes the “separated” apps more recognizable to the end user.

In general our users were able to deal with these changes just fine. Upgrading from Android 13 to 14 did not introduce app separation related issues.
